PDI President
The legislators are back in town and PDI is back "in gear" to work on the "Grow Iowa" agenda! Our members know the value of local tools for economic development. Since Tax Increment Financing tops the list, PDI members will have the opportunity for a conversation with Bob Josten. Bob is our expert PDI member with examples and guiding principles for TIF to continue as a valuable economic development tool. Please join the conversation on Wednesday, January 25 from 3:30 - 5:00.

Grow Iowa Day is fast approaching and you won't want to miss the chance to promote your organization with a booth in the rotunda or by chatting with your legislators on the PDI legislative issues. You can Click here for details.)

DEVELOPMENT UPDATE

Certified Site Informational Meeting: Feb 1st

On February 1st at 3:00 p.m. (immediately following the PDI Grow Iowa Day in Des Moines) please join Don Schjeldahl and Jonathan Gemmen with the Austin Company and the Iowa Economic Development Authority to learn more about the Certified Site program. Among the discussion items: the need for site certification, perspective on what companies need now and into the future, and how your community aligns with those trends. The informational meeting will be held in the IEDA Main Conference Room at 200 E Grand Ave in Des Moines.

If you plan to attend, please contact Chris Cataldo at either chris.cataldo@iowa.gov or 515.725.3157.

 Marketing Plan Rollout

There are still three locations available statewide for meetings with Director Durham as she outlines the new approach the Agency will be taking with marketing strategies. We need our local economic development partners to align marketing strategies and to make as big of an impact as possible with the marketing resources available. RSVP to Kathy Anderson with your preferred location via email to Kathy.Anderson@iowa.gov. Call Kathy at 515.725.3149 with any questions. We do need an RSVP simply to notify you of changes if inclement weather arises or schedules change.

Iowa Library Services/State Library Launches First Capitol Complex IowaWORKS Access Point

Iowa Workforce Development is rapidly deploying access points across the state to bring workforce services closer to Iowans. Further enhancing this initiative is the launch of access points on the capitol complex. Iowa Library Services/State Library has installed access points at both the main library in the Ola Babcock Miller Building and at the Law Library in Iowa's Capitol Building. "Iowa Library Services and Iowa Workforce Development very much appreciate the great service provided by the access point libraries all around the state. 55,000 people walk through the doors of Iowa public libraries every day. Librarians have always worked hard to meet the needs of their customers, and are again responding to community needs by making the workforce access points available on library computers," said State Librarian Mary Wegner.
