95% of the world’s population is outside of the United States… and that equals a world of new customers to buy products from Iowa companies.
IEDA – International Trade Office in the IEDA has staff with decades of trade experience, four foreign office/representatives and a network of other contacts worldwide to help Iowa companies reach external markets. In addition to the expertise through the Trade Office, the following are specific programs offered (funded in part through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and IEDA) to achieve this goal as well:
• Technical Trade Assistance Program (TTAP) – Staff will meet with companies one-on-one to help Iowa companies determine their export capabilities, provide training and/or resources, counseling, and assist with export challenges and provide direction along with the way.
• Export Trade Assistance Program (ETAP) – Financial assistance is available for eligible Iowa companies exhibiting in trade shows or participating in IEDA trade missions taking place outside the United States. Companies can receive up to $12,000 during the funding period.
• Domestic Trade Assistance Program (DTAP) – Financial assistance is available for eligible Iowa companies exhibiting in trade shows held in the United States with an international buyer program or demonstrated significant international component (with pre-approval). Companies can receive up to $6,000 during the funding period.
• Product Trade Assistance Program (PTAP) – Financial assistance is available for eligible Iowa companies making product or process modifications necessary to enter specific export market(s). A company can receive up to $5,000 during the funding period.
