On September 3, Governor Branstad announced the launch of the ‘Connect Every Iowan’ initiative (http://governor.iowa.gov/connect), and missioned the STEM Advisory Council Broadband Committee to three directives:
- Recommend policies to encourage build out of broadband technologies throughout the state, particularly in unserved and underserved areas. (December 1st deadline)
- Identify and pursue federal funding and private partnerships to achieve the goal of “Connecting Every Iowan”.
- Development a long-term broadband strategy for the State of Iowa. (January 1, 2015 deadline)
The STEM Advisory Council Broadband Committee is soliciting input from stakeholders all across Iowa who can offer insights into the unique broadband challenges facing the state, as well as provide thoughts on possible solutions. This input will help enhance efforts in developing effective policy recommendations to expand broadband access, adoption and use for all Iowans.
