Workforce Development Coordinator, Ames Chamber, Ames, IA

Under supervision this position will coordinate programming to support the workforce needs of our members and the community. 

This position will coordinate programming to develop our current workforce and provide opportunities for further growth and development. This position will be the lead staff of the Chamber’s flagship program, Leadership Ames. Leadership Ames was created to develop informed, involved and concerned local leaders. The program gives both experienced and developing leaders a broader view of civic leadership responsibilities and opportunities through direct contact with a wide spectrum of institutions and people who shape the community where we live and work. 

This position will also support and create opportunities for young professionals in Ames and Story County. This position serves as staff liaison to the Ames Chamber of Commerce affiliate organization FUEL (formerly known as Young Professionals of Ames). This position will help guide FUEL in their mission to enhance the leadership and professional development opportunities, as well as the quality of life, for young professionals in the community.  Enhancing quality of life for this demographic is a key driver in local economic development. 

This position will contribute to the growth and development of our future workforce, including K-12 and intern engagement, and support the overall line of work including but not limited to attending career fairs, participating in community learning sessions, and work with ISU career service staff. This position will also assist with programming for Ames-area interns including the See Yourself in Ames summer intern events. 

Individual must be self-motivated, results-oriented with a positive outlook and a clear focus on high quality customer support; possess excellent time management skills; credible, and comfortable dealing with a broad spectrum of business industries and people.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not essential. A combination of education and experience may be substituted when proficiency is demonstrated.

Excellent organizational and administrative skills are essential to manage multiple

projects, as well as excellent communication and customer service skills. Ability to develop and maintain good relationships will help the candidate succeed in this role. Must be able to work with deadlines and must maintain a valid driver’s license.
